• Jingu Bang: An enchanted staff. To Sun, it feels and weighs like a normal staff. For others who try to hold it, the staff is incredibly heavy.

Combat Style: Sun’s style is generally getting in as much hits as he can to weaken an opponent before going in for the kill. A fighting style akin to a hit-and-run one. He’s always on the offence and rarely ever tries to fight defensively.

History:

Sun is an orphan who was left upon the steps of a monastery where he was taken in by a few of the elders. Growing up, Sun was a troublesome child who always caused some sort of trouble and always started fights with other children. Elders would try to control his behavior and ultimately failed. Seeing that he had a natural compulsion to violence and fighting they had sent him off to another monastery that would aid him with his behavior. The next monastery found that Sun was hard to control and he was moved again. Finally there came a decision that he was most likely not suited for a life of meditation and prayer.

At the age of 8, Sun was sent to a monastery that focused on combat and enhancing the body and mind. Elders had noticed that Sun seemed to have a knack for fighting and a willingness to learn and improve his skill, however he was very reckless in terms of behavior. He always spoke out of turn, he would constantly start fights outside of training, refused to follow rules, etc. The monks knew that he had great potential and seemingly natural skill but found that he needed discipline. One monk, Zhang Tao, had taken on the role of being Sun’s mentor. He had no mercy when it came to dealing with Sun’s bitter attitude, and accepted nothing below perfection in terms of Sun’s skills. Despite Zhang Tao’s harsh attitude, he had a soft side and was one of the few people who could get through to Sun and manage to have him open up. He was the only person who Sun openly talked about his insecurities about and after coming to an understanding with his mentor, Sun became a calmer, and less violent person.

After 10 years of intense training (and emotional support from Zhang Tao), Sun managed to become a great fighter, exceeding all of his other peers. Training forced him to learn how to respect his mentor and others around him, though at heart Sun was still a troublemaker and didn't hold the best self-restraint when it came to his antics. He still wasn’t well liked amongst his peers, and had been paired up with another troublemaker to befriend, Shaozu. At first the two disliked each other but Sun found that he had Shaozu were fairly similar and had similar setbacks. Sun had decided to aid in helping Shaozu with controlling his emotions and with his fighting (so he wouldn't get beat up so often during sparring sessions). The two ended up foraging a strong bond with each other as a result of their time together.

A few scouts had traveled and stumbled upon the monastery after hearing from some locals that the students that resided there had a lot of potential. The elder monks had planned to have their most skilled student, Sun, put on a show of skill for the scouts. Sun refused, but through some coaxing by his mentor Sun obliged. After battling and managing to subdue all of his opponents rather easily, the scouts took note of Sun’s skill and had him drafted into the demigod program. Upon hearing about the conditions of being drafted, Sun refused his admission to Enhalo but was ultimately taken against his will. While he is bitter about being forced into Enhalo, he knows that this is probably for the best.

Overview: Sun is a monkey who’s rather eccentric in terms of personality. He’s loudmouthed, peppy, and generally always in a good mood. You’ll either find him nice to be around, or an utter annoyance (and based on his life it’s mostly been the latter). He’s fairly social and loves interacting with others because of the fact that he could never make many friends growing up.  Despite being a self-proclaimed ray of sunshine, Sun is rather repressed in terms of emotions. He rarely ever shows his soft side because he thinks it’s a sign of weakness. He places most of his self-worth in his fighting because he doesn’t excell (or is even good at) anything else. There’s always this need to improve and want to seem great and powerful so no one can underestimate him.

Miscellaneous:

• Sun isn’t sure what species of monkey he is.

• His nickname stems from his favorite character in his favorite legend, Sun Wukong. His weapon of choice was also inspired by him.

• Li Jie is Sun’s birth name but he never uses it personally because it brings up negative memories...

• His pupils are a pale peach color and his sclera is a pale yellow-grey.

• While Jiji is his best friend, it’s more of a vitriolic type of friendship.

• His favorite food is meat buns.

• He has a mild fear of bamboo.

• His mode of transportation is via a cloud called Nimbus that's summoned by an enchanted whistle that was given to him by his mentor. It can fly fairly quickly and can [barely] hold up to 2 people. [Speed stat: +++]

• Suffers from PTSD.

• Fluent in hybrid Mandarin...is decent in Common.

• Has a prehensible tail that he can hang from for a short amount of time.
